Whether you want a new rooflight in a flat roof, a roof window in a loft or a sun tunnel over a dark landing, or you need an old unit replaced, the first step is the same. We start with a free survey, and only after it do we put a figure in front of you.
The survey form books it. If writing a message suits you better, WhatsApp us on 07880 284133, or email info@supremeskylightsnewport.co.uk.
What to tell us when you book
A few lines are enough. Say which town or village the house is in, which room the glass is for and whether the roof above it slopes or is flat. Tell us if there is a rooflight or roof window there already that you want swapped, or whether the opening would be new.
Add how the room is used once the sun goes down. A loft bedroom under a roof window may want a blackout blind, and a kitchen extension used late into the evening asks different questions of the glass. None of it has to be precise at this stage. The survey is where the detail is settled.
We cover Newport and the towns and villages within about 30 road miles of the city, on the Welsh and English sides of the Severn. The areas list names them.
From the survey to the guarantee
After you book, the job runs in this order.
- Free survey It costs you nothing, and we name a price only once it is done.
- Fixed written quote The figure you get after the survey is fixed and set down in writing.
- Fitting If you go ahead, we fit the new rooflight, roof window, lantern or sun tunnel, or replace the old one.
- Building Regulations Where the job is notifiable, we take care of the notification, with local authority building control or a registered building control approver.
- Guarantee Our workmanship carries a 10-year guarantee, given to you in writing.
Planning questions can wait for the survey
You do not need to know whether the work needs planning permission before you book. A rooflight on a house in Wales can be permitted development, and our planning guide for Wales gives the conditions and the places where it is not. Where the answer for a particular house is unclear, we confirm it with the council.
Building Regulations are a separate matter from planning. Our guide to the Welsh Building Regulations for skylights explains how they apply, and the guarantee page covers what the 10 years means for your fitting.
