These terms apply when Supreme Skylights Newport surveys, quotes for, supplies and fits skylights, rooflights, roof windows, roof lanterns and sun tunnels at a home. They are written for customers who are consumers, buying for their own home. Nothing here takes away your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or any other law.
You can reach us at info@supremeskylightsnewport.co.uk or on WhatsApp at 07880 284133. We have no premises open to the public; every survey and installation takes place at your property.
The survey
A survey is free and carries no obligation to go ahead. It is arranged at a time agreed with you, and someone over 18 should be at the property to let us in and show us the room and roof concerned. Measurements and notes taken at the survey are used to prepare your price.
Your quote
After the survey we send you a fixed written quote. It stays open for the period stated on it. If something hidden is found once work starts, such as rotten timber or a structural problem that could not be seen at the survey, we will stop, explain it to you and agree any change with you in writing before carrying on. No extra work is charged for without your written agreement.
Accepting the quote
A contract between us is formed when you accept the quote in writing, by email or WhatsApp, and we confirm the booking. Because the quote is normally accepted away from any business premises, the contract counts as an off-premises contract under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
Your right to cancel
You may cancel within 14 days, starting the day after the contract is formed, without giving a reason. To cancel, send us a clear statement by email or WhatsApp. A model cancellation form is available on request, though you do not have to use it. If you cancel within the period, we refund any payment you have made within 14 days of being told.
Work will not start during the 14 days unless you expressly ask for it to. If you do ask, and then cancel before the work is finished, you will pay a proportionate amount for what has been done up to the time you tell us. Once the work is fully completed at your express request, the right to cancel is lost.
Some products are made to measure or to your specification. If you ask us in writing to order such a product within the cancellation period, the regulations may limit what can be refunded for that product, and we will tell you this before placing the order.
Payment
Payment terms, including any deposit and when the balance falls due, are agreed with you in writing before work is booked. Invoices are payable on the date shown on them. If a payment is late, we may charge interest at a reasonable rate after reminding you, and we may pause further work until the account is settled.
Before and during the work
You are asked to give safe access to the property and to the roof area on the agreed dates, and to make sure the room below is clear of fragile items. A working power supply may be needed for tools and, for electric products, for the final connection.
Where the work is notifiable, we handle the Building Regulations notification with local authority building control or a registered building control approver. Where planning permission or listed building consent is needed, the work will not start until it has been granted. Our planning guide covers the Welsh rules and, for homes across the Severn, the English ones.
Dates can move because of weather, product delivery or other events beyond our reasonable control. If that happens we will tell you as soon as we can and agree a new date with you.
Our workmanship guarantee
Work we install carries a 10-year workmanship guarantee, given to you in writing. What it covers, and how to make a claim, is set out on our guarantee page. Products are also covered by the manufacturer's own warranty on that maker's terms. The guarantee is in addition to your legal rights, which say our service must be carried out with reasonable care and skill and the goods we supply must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described.
Liability
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable when the contract was made, or for losses to a business. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with any part of our work, please tell us promptly so that we can look into it. The steps are described in our complaints procedure.
Personal data
We use your details to quote for and carry out the work, as explained in our privacy policy.
Law and courts
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You may bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales, or, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in the courts where you live. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the remainder continues to apply.
